U16 Hegarty Cup Quarter Final - Confey FC v Bohemians
Heartbreak today for our U16s. After an excellent first half where Confey created some very good chances the game reached half-time scoreless. Confey continued to work hard in the second half and were rewarded with a goal. Both Teams continued to be evenly matched but it was Bohemians that eventually equalised and unfortunately went on to take the lead with only a few minutes left. Confey had a very good appeal for a penalty turned down late in the game but that was our last effort. Hard luck to Gerry Quinn and his lads in what was a tremendous Cup tie. Well done to Bohemians.

LSL Senior Sunday Div 1A - Leixlip Utd vs Confey FC
With Leixlip riding high in second place they would have been favourites to take all three points in the local derby. However Tony McGiff's Team produced a superb display to come away from The Amenities with a 1-1 draw. Leixlip started the game with plenty of possession but did not create many clear cut chances. Indeed it was Confey that almost went ahead from a tremendous free kick that just went wide with the Leixlip Keeper well beaten. But it was Leixlip that took the lead just before half time when, from a corner, the ball fell kindly to Keller who opened the scoring with a wonderful strike into the top left corner. Confey started brightly in the second half and were rewarded when Barry Quigley latched onto a through ball and played a wonderful chip over the oncoming Keeper to level the scores. Indeed it was only a great save from the Leixlip keeper, again from a one on one with Quigley, that kept the local Team in the game. Confey continued to press for the winner but could not find that winning goal. There were great performances all over the pitch for Confey. Our Defenders come in for special praise for restricting a very good Leixlip front line to mainly half chances for most of the game. No doubt Tony McGiff will hope that his crew can continue with this impressive form for the rest of the season.

Summary of other Weekend games
Saturday's U8E1 Team recorded a very good, and by all accounts, very exciting 1-1 draw away to Peamount. Match was played on Peamount's very impressive Astro facility
Sunday's 15A's grabbed a late winner to edge out Ballymun Utd 3-2 in Catherines Park. Visitors opened the scoring before Confey's Rick O'Shea equalised. Both Teams added to their tally and went into the break 2-2. Game was heading for a draw when Ian Harrington bagged the late winner.
Sunday's U17's continued their excellent League form with a comprehensive 4-0 against Knocklyon Utd. Confey welcomed back Jordan Martin after a long injury layoff and he marked his return with a fine headed goal. Confey had the lions share of posession and should probably have gone into the break more than 1-0 to the good. Eventually our lads wore down the opposition and three second half goals from Stephen Doran, Stephen Nicholas and Sean Casey sealed the victory. Confey remain unbeaten in the League and must now be considered serious contenders for silverware this season.
