Match Report : Confey 2 : 4 Phoenix FC

Heartbreak for Confey at Scribblestown Road after a dream start and a
great game. Confey started strong against Phoenix FC from Cabra - led
up front by Denis, Jake and Sean B with Harry and Nevin feeding in from
midfield. Jake scored from a great shot mid way through the first half.
Phoenix came back upfield but a strong defensive line of Ciaran, Davin
and Kyle held with Luke saving many shots and ensuring a clean sheet in
the first half. Confey were awarded a free outside the penalty area and
Jake duly slotted his second of the match into the bottom right hand
corner minutes before the whistle.

Phoenix must have had their weetabix at half time as they came out
fighting. The Confey defense held for a while assisted in the second
half by Jack and Sean M. Phoenix were awarded a corner and the ball
bounced into the net after a scramble in defense. Adam and Liam came on
to help out in midfield and Harry, Jake and Sean B had some chances up
front. Two further goals followed for Phoenix with Luke making some
great saves to keep the game alive. Some serious defensive commitment
was shown by Confey resulting in a few injuries which the Players
involved quickly shrugged off. While one Player recovered, Phoenix
tried a high bouncing ball from the other half which was lucky to make
the net. The wrong result unfortunately but huge commitment shown by
all.
