Manortown 4 Confey FC 2

Drawn against, possible the hardest opposition in Manortown from the Sunday league, who have only dropped 2 points in 11 starts in their league, the young men from Confey gave a great account of themselves.
Losing the first half 3v0, the team talk from manager Des Walsh must have worked, as the lads stormed back into the game with goals from ever reliable Eoin Dennehy and Captain Liam Ginnity. Both scored with screamers from well outside the box, much to the surprise of the Manortown line.
Confey controlled all of the second half with fine displays from keeper Mark Devine, defenders Andrew Walsh and Kevin Renyolds, who both pushed on whenever possible,to help get that all important third goal they needed.
Midfield of Liam Horan, Daryle Dunne and Mabella Ryan all battled hard for everything while some tireless running from frontmen like Max Fagan, James O'Connor and Joey Kelly made it a very close run finish and certainly gave Manortown a real scare.
With only seconds left, and after a couple of good chances, Eoin Dennihy again found space to beat 2 players only to fire straight into the Manortown keepers hands, for what would have been a well deserved leveller, with extra time on the way.
But from the resulting kickout Manortown went up and scored their fourth and killed off the game as the Ref. blew his whistle straight after tip off.
" Fair play to the lads, they showed great spirit by not dropping the heads and battling back and with a bit of luck we could have had extra time. This bunch of young fellows are coming on in every match and all want to learn and play for one another. They have developed a mentality of not giving up and showed that there today. Manortown got more than they expected and Confey put up a good account of themselves." said Des Walsh.
Come on the lads, keep up the good work!
